Today Sifu went over the blocking techniques for street fight. Hands are up higher than the forehead and the arms are bent at a 90 degrees or slight more. The structure created is much more solid than the hands at cheek or chin level. With the guard high, the forearms can absorb attacks without harm. The lower guard (hands at cheek or chin level) can not take as much force because of the weaker reception point being the hand ls and wrist. It’s really a Muay Thai high guard. ( I wonder if Sifu is aware of this). Link to guards.
We also went over chin-na and how to in counter chin-na. To counter, move. Don’t stand still. Chin-na only works if the receiver remains in the desired position of the attacker.
