Sifu shared some old photos of himself with me. It’s strange for me to see a younger Sifu, as I started training with Sifu when he’s well in his late 70s. It shocking to see him with black hair, younger and with fire in his eyes. This photo of Sifu John Cho with his fighter Hong struck me the most. Sifu is very proud at the fact that although he’s a Kung Fu school, he was able to trained a fighter that won a belt in Muay Thai. He said he was in his forties in this photo. He looks like he was in better shape than I am.
Sometimes we forget, that everyone, especially older folks, had a prime. I try to remind myself of this when I meet older folks. I try to envision them when they were younger, and full of fire. This photo of Sifu embodies that fire.
